Rabbi Meir was among the foremost students of Rabbi Akiva and one of the most frequently cited sages of the Mishnah.
His name is associated with light, Torah scholarship and compassion. Across generations, giving tzedakah in his merit and saying “Eloka D’Meir Aneini” became a deeply cherished custom in Jewish homes.
